What are the Issues?

Images displaying the risks and issues of the commercial sector

Germs and bacteria that cause common illnesses are invisible to the naked eye. Whether you are in a workplace, public facility, leisure environment or education establishment, germs are spread by people-to-people and through touching everyday surfaces.

Enclosed environments, where people are working or interacting in close proximity with one another, are particularly at higher risk of the spread of germs. With people often working or moving around public areas whilst ill, this can quickly lead to localised outbreaks among a larger number of people.

Our hands are the primary vehicle to increase the spread of germs, yet there are no definitive guidelines on best practice. Poor hand hygiene will lead to increased illness and can result in:

  • Disruption cost and lost productivity through employee absence from work
  • Reduced employee efficiency through illness at work and lower morale
  • Damage to an organisation’s reputation
  • Brand damage through negative publicity

For any organisation, implementing and maintaining appropriate hand hygiene practices is a daily challenge:

  • There are inconsistent hand hygiene habits across the population
  • People do not wash their hands frequently or adequately enough
  • There are many occasions where hand hygiene is required away from the washroom

Employers and facility managers have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for workers and the general public. We believe addressing hand hygiene is an important part of this responsibility.

What is the Deb response?...

Deb Response / A Skin Care System

Commercial markets Deb representativeTo protect and care for skin in a commercial environment we have developed a specific skin safety regime.

With over 65 years experience in away from home skin care, Deb is uniquely qualified to provide a structured approach to the skin safety challenges. We begin with the end game in mind – every person in every part of the organisation does “the right thing” with regard to skin safety.

Your challenges are unique to your organisation and our regime is tailored to meet your specific needs. It integrates with your own risk management activities including Health and Safety procedures; occupational health requirements; and the provision of personal protective equipment.

The regime is based on The Deb Skin Care System™ which comprises a complementary range of skin care products and support activities to overcome obstacles and encourage employee motivation to comply with a rigorous skin safety philosophy.

A Skin Care System

Best in class product and support activities are uniquely combined into 6-steps to create The Deb Skin Care System™.

4-Step Product Range
Our product range accomodates a broad variety of user preferences and application requirements. All Deb products are fully tested, supported and colour- coded for easy identification.

ProtectProtect — Pre-work creams to help protect the skin against contact with various contaminants, materials and working conditions. They facilitate subsequent cleansing, allowing the mildest possible products to be used.

CleanseCleanse — Appropriate hand cleansers to meet the specific cleaning needs and preferences of each workplace and washroom environment.

SanitiseSanitise — Products that can be used without water to kill germs and provide a higher level of hand hygiene. Ideal for use outside the washroom e.g. at the work point, reception area, cafeterias and public areas.

RestoreRestore — After work reconditioning creams to help maintain healthy skin and avoid dryness. Good skin condition is an important element in ensuring good hand hygiene practice.

2-Step Support Activities
The Deb Support Package provides easy to understand education and training materials to raise skin care awareness and encourage appropriate use and compliance. This combines with ongoing technical support to provide help and advice in relation to the use of Deb products and an auditing programme to help implement standards and drive compliance.

EducateEducate — The provision of education, training and awareness materials to encourage good hand hygiene practice.
