Manufacturing & Logistics

Distribution warehouse at Denby

By operating manufacturing locations around the globe, over 80% of our products are sold in the country of manufacture.

Deb’s processes are designed with environmental considerations at the forefront of decision making. We constantly challenge ourselves to raise our own performance.

The evidence:

  • Deb has manufacturing locations across the globe. Indeed, we have factories on all the continents in which we sell products. This means that over 80% of Deb products are sold in the country of manufacture. By operating on a local basis, the distance our products need to be transported is minimized.
  • Deb’s route to market is via distributors. This means that, no matter where in the world you are, there will be a stock of Deb products close to hand. Therefore the transportation supply chain from factory to end user is efficient. From Deb’s factories to our distributors, large order quantities mean good space utilization in trucks, railcars and sea containers. From distributors to end users, small Deb orders are bundled with other companies’ products, and transport distances are very short.
  • We actively support local suppliers to minimize our environmental impact, and work diligently and collaboratively to build skills and generate investment with these businesses. There are numerous examples of this in all of our companies, including raw material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, maintenance contractors, catering services, design agencies, stationery providers and educational establishments.
  • Deb is one of the largest companies in its sector. Therefore we possess scale. This means that we can purchase raw materials in large order quantities, such as tanker loads and full truck loads. This efficiency reduces the number of vehicle movements necessary to replenish our factories. On the rare occasions when we transport goods between continents, we use sea freight rather than air freight wherever possible – for us, good environmental practices align with financial good sense.
  • Waste disposal management is a high priority at all of our manufacturing sites. Our plants monitor waste levels, and target both annual reductions and a continuous increase in the proportion of waste for recycling.
