The winner in the elementary school (K-5) category is Stella F., a fourth-grader at Floranada Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Wilfred O., a sixth-grader at Gifford School in Racine, Wisc., won in the middle/ high school (6-12) category.

From a germ-busting soap dispenser to a rocket ship “blasting off” germs into space, the public can now choose their favorite soap dispenser design by K-12 students across the U.S.

Handwashing is an integral part of reducing the spread of germs. However, increased handwashing coupled with low temperatures and humidity can result in skin dryness, irritation, itching and even cracking or bleeding. These skin reactions are referred to as irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) [1].

The solutions have been tested and approved for use on Plexiglas® MC and G Grade Acrylic Sheets, which are most commonly used as safety shields.
