WATERFORD, Ontario - March 1, 2017 Raise your hand if you enjoy artwork and clean hands! After receiving votes from across the country, Deb Canada announced today the winners in the elementary and middle categories for its official Happy Hands Dispenser Design Contest, which promotes hand hygiene at schools.
“We’re thrilled to see the excitement around these student designs and hand hygiene,” said Patrick Boshell, Director of Marketing, Deb Canada. “The artwork on the soap dispensers will serve as a reminder about the important role clean hands play in keeping everyone at school healthy. Meanwhile, teachers can continue to utilize our activity books and posters throughout the school year.”
The 2016 Deb Canada Happy Hands Dispenser Design Contest winners include:
Henrry T., Markham Gateway P.S, Markham, ON
Ciana D., St. Agnes Junior High School, Halifax, NS
"We are thrilled Ciana was chosen as the winner from so many excellent submissions,” said teacher Marilyn MacInnis, St. Agnes Junior High School. “It was great to see the school and community support her entry. This contest was a fun way for students to express their creativity while we learned about the importance of handwashing in and out of the Family Studies classroom."
The student designs with the most votes in each category will each receive a $200 gift card. Each winning students’ school will also receive a $500 donation. The winning designs will be custom printed for free on up-to 500 manual Deb soap/sanitizer dispensers for use at the students’ school.
Students submitted their designs online Oct. 3-Dec 5, 2016 and ten finalists in each category were announced on Jan. 16. Submissions were evaluated for visual appeal, overall design, creativity and unique design elements. The public voted for their favorites Jan. 16-March 1.
