How is Pandemic Flu Different From Seasonal Flu?

As with all types of influenza, seasonal flu and pandemic flu are highly infectious. Also, pandemic flu will spread in the same way as normal seasonal flu, through coughing, sneezing, touching contaminated surfaces etc and spreading to eyes, nose or mouth. However, as no one initially has immunity to pandemic flu, it spreads very quickly throughout the population, potentially on a global basis, and can cause serious illness, even fatalities, before a vaccine becomes available. Usually, those people with immune-compromised health conditions, or underlying health problems, are at greatest risk, but even apparently healthy people can be seriously infected.
