IS YOUR SCHOOL SUN SAFE?

Over-exposure to the sun during childhood can affect the risk of melanoma later in life[1]. Instilling the benefits of being sun safe at school with children is crucial. Educating pupils from a young age is likely to make being safe in the sun a lifetime habit.

Schools and colleges have a responsibility to ensure that children are protected from the harmful UV rays during the school day. We believe by providing educational establishments with high-quality sunscreens and effective resources to learn about UV protection in a fun and informative way, it will ensure that children and young adults are healthier, happier and will have minimised their risk of being diagnosed with skin cancer.

We have teamed up with the skin cancer charity, SKCIN, to create a bright, fun, sun cream dispenser and board to encourage children to protect themselves from the sun and wear sun cream. Through SKCIN’s Sun Safe Schools Accreditation Programme you can access FREE resources for primary schools, helping educate children on the importance of sun safety, enabling schools to fulfil their obligations under the new PHSE curriculum.
